picsbytammy  > Other > Our Backyard Birds
Everything we have read says that Button Quail do not hatch in captivity....well, anything can happen in our aviary! Sunday, we went out to the aviary to feed the birds and found little tiny birds on the aviary floor....and low and behold we have 3 little button quail chicks that we now have in a homemade incubator in our garage. I took these photos tonight to show you how small they are. It is said that Button Quail hens do not sit on their eggs in captivity and they do not care for their chicks...well, I don't know if they sat on the eggs or if one of their friendly cockatiel buddies did but we do indeed have 3 chicks that were hatched in captivity! Hopefully they will survive....they are definitely as cute as a button!
